Sustainability and material reuse were at the forefront of this design and build project, with execution that exceeded our client’s expectations.
Bermonds Locke

For this project, BECK London worked with award winning client the edyn group, to create an urban oasis in the heart of Bermondsey. Bermonds Locke is designed for the modern traveller to work, play and sleep, with swing chairs, fixed concrete banquette seating and suspended planters.

The project involved the complex transformation of a six-floor office building into 143 unique and spacious studios. Inspired by the Californian desert, the décor blends calming blues with earthy tones. In addition to the studios, we created vibrant public spaces, including work and social lounges, a coffee shop, restaurants, bars, and a basement gym.

Many design elements were crafted from recycled construction materials. Concrete testing cubes, once destined for landfill, now serve as plinths for a terrazzo table in the ground-floor workspace. Steel reinforcement bars and clay bricks were repurposed into decorative ironwork and other unexpected design details.
