The restoration and alteration involved a diverse range of construction activities, overcoming complex design challenges and seamlessly integrating a modern structure behind the preserved façade. Significant challenges included creating additional space within the existing footprint, including the addition of three new basement levels, major demolition, rebuilding works, and a glass-roofed atrium, all within the retained period façade.
Nomad London

BECK London expertly transformed the iconic Grade II listed Bow Street Magistrates Court into the stunning NoMad London, the first NoMad hotel outside of the USA. The restoration of this historic property involved converting the renowned court and police station, famously associated with political activist Emmeline Pankhurst and the Kray Twins. The hotel now boasts 91 luxury bedrooms, along with multiple restaurant and bar facilities across the basement and ground floors, including spaces within retained magistrates’ cells and a newly created atrium. The Grade II listed building has been reimagined as a modern hotel of understated luxury in the heart of Covent Garden, inspired by the rich history of the local area.

A number of food and beverage offerings in each location is something the NoMad group is known for. BECK London fitted out the stunning ‘NoMad Restaurant and Bar’, inside a glass atrium flooded with natural light. ‘Side Hustle’ is based on the traditional British pub and finally, this London location features the first NoMad cocktail lounge, ‘Common Decency’.
