Energy Revolution: The Adani Green Energy Gallery

BECK London successfully delivered the base build and fit-out for the Energy Revolution: The Adani Green Energy Gallery, a landmark free exhibition at the Science Museum in London. Located on Level 2 of the West Hall, the new gallery replaces the decade-old Atmosphere gallery. It strengthens the museum’s ongoing commitment to climate change and sustainability education.
The gallery explores how the world can generate and use energy more sustainably, aiming to decarbonise global energy systems. It is divided into three sections: Future Planet, which showcases how climate scientists use mathematics to predict climate futures; Future Energy, highlighting cutting-edge energy technologies and the transition from fossil fuels; and Our Future, featuring children’s ideas about energy solutions, paired with expert insights.

As principal contractor, we collaborated with the project team to deliver a fit-out aligned with the gallery’s sustainability mission. Key elements included plinths made from recycled materials, aluminium AV housings, graphic displays, and bench seating. We also installed a reinforced flooring system, timber walls, showcases, and structural mounts for large objects.

This project marked our first Whole Life Carbon Assessment (WLCA) for a museum, conducted with Tunley Environmental. We tracked carbon impact across design, fabrication, delivery, and installation, focusing on locally sourced materials, real-time data collection on resources, and a comprehensive carbon management program to ensure an environmentally responsible approach.
Our commitment to reducing emissions, minimising waste, and optimising post-project maintenance ensures that the gallery’s mission extends beyond its exhibits, into the very way it was built.
